Call for Youth Leadership Program – The Australian Jewish News

A DYNAMIC leadership development program by Maccabi Australia has been launched, aimed at enthusiastic and motivated men and women between the ages of 18 and 30, involved in Maccabi and Jewish sport, whether on or off the field.

Susannah Swiatlo, leadership chair for Maccabi Australia, said the new program – called Maccabi Future LEAD (Learn, Engage, Align, Develop) – will be limited to 15 participants.

Registration for Expressions of Interest will remain open until Monday, May 2.

Swiatlo, who has established a national leadership committee over the past 18 months, said Maccabi Australia offers engaging and relevant learning and experience programs, such as Maccabi Future LEAD, “to equip potential future leaders with the skills , confidence, knowledge and empowerment to take on leadership roles as contributors within the organization”.

“We aim to provide personal and professional development leadership and mentorship programs, and experiences, beyond those on the job,” she said.

Of the current board members, Swiatlo said some compete at club level and others no longer play sports but want to stay involved in Jewish sport and contribute to Maccabi’s future.

“We have sub-committees involved in Junior Carnival, Young Leader Engagement and Development, Youth Council, Maccabi Life, Electronic Games, Social Sports Clubs and Maccabi World Union Future Leader programs “, she said.

“And I can proudly say that one of our aspiring committee members, Jodi Velik, recently returned from a trip to Israel as the inaugural Maccabi Australia Ambassador, attending a five-day Emerging Leaders Forum. .”

For admission to the Maccabi Future LEAD program, Swiatlo urged families in Maccabi circles in particular to “look to your family, friends, Maccabi club or organization, and if you know any aspiring young adults who are showing commitment, enthusiasm and leadership qualities, then register them by completing the application form”.

“So we can reach out, connect and start building a sustainable and prosperous future for Maccabi across Australia.”
